Long-Term Care Insurance
Medicare, Medigap, disability and most health insurance policies do not cover most long-term care costs. Medicaid will only pay for long-term care costs if you have very limited assets and income. If you need extended medical care or assistance, your long-term care insurance (either a policy that you have individually purchased or hold as a retiree benefit from your previous employer) can help cover a wide range of costs including home health care, assisted living and skilled nursing facility care.
